| Treatment proposal (Behandelvoorstel) | Following an initial conversation,
or several conversations, the Riagg will determine how someone should be treated. This is called a treatment proposal. (Behandelvoorstel) |
| Counsellor (Behandelaar) |
A counsellor is someone who uses conversations
and/or medicines to try to ease the symptoms of someone who has come to the Riagg for treatment. There are different types of counsellor, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and community psychiatric nurses. |
| Side effects of medicine (Bijwerkingen van medicijnen) |
Many medicines may produce other effects
in addition to the use for which they are intended. These are listed in the patient information leaflet. |
| Client Council (Cliëntenraad) | Group of volunteers that stands up
for the interests of clients. The Council’s powers are laid down in the Participation Act, referred to in Dutch as the ‘Wet Medezeggenschap Cliënten Zorginstellingen’ or WMCZ. |
| Client confidant (Cliëntvertrouwenspersoon) | A client confidant provides information,
support or advice to people who have questions or complaints about Riagg. |
| Head of a department (Hoofd van een afdeling) | The Riagg comprises different departments.
Each department has a manager (head). |
| Intake | One or two conversations in which a
counsellor tries to figure out what is the matter with you. Following these conversations, he/she decides what treatment you should receive. |
| Complaints Committee (Klachtencommissie) | Group of people who handle official
complaints. These people are not employed by the Riagg. |
| Riagg | Institution where people are treated
for psychological symptoms. The Riagg counsellors are paid from insurance premiums. |
| Second opinion | If you disagree with the diagnosis, you can ask another. |
